Build a search engine friendly web site.
- Provide useful and free information for your website visitors.
- Write the content using familiar words to your audience and short sentences. Although search engines love more content, don't exceed 250 words per page.
- Use as many keywords as possible in the first paragraph on the home page.
- Try to avoid Flash animations, heavy pictures and JavaScript. Besides the fact that most search engines cannot read them, they push the content towards the bottom of the page. Design your website with Cascading Style Sheet (avoid tables). Thus, you can place the content wherever you want.
Keyword Research is essential if you want to drive traffic to your website.
Having a website up and running, submitting to search engines and maintaining it, is not sufficient. Your website must be optimized to be highly ranked for the keywords your visitors type into search engines. To find your targeted keywords and key phrases, first you determine who the ideal visitors to your website are and what are they looking for online. Find out the words people use to search for your web pages. There are several tools to provide a list of relevant keywords showing related words and how often they are used by people searching on the search engines. Using Yahoo! Keyword tool , Google AdWords or WordTracker you can determine which keywords have the highest search volume. Also, you can obtain cost estimates for keywords and key phrases and how much competition there is for each phrase.
Keyword Placement
After you placed the keywords in the body page, try to place them in the title, headers <H>, in the alt attribute of <img> tags, inbound and crossbound links. Use as many crossbound links as possible. The visitors will find easier what they need on your website and the bounce rate will be lower.
